#70 My Friend Gwyneth, Detox « ithinkyoushould.

ithinkyoushould. Cut My Friend Gwyneth Some Slack, and Eliminate Your GOOP

I know. You’re cringing. At my grammar, and in reference to my friend Gwyneth. Well, what can I add to the subject other than what’s already been said?

Yes, it has been reported that some journalists find her preachy, and holier than thou, and “perfect” and without blemish, and…But really, I mean, can you honestly say that she isn’t just trying to make the world a healthier, more zen-like, fashionable place, albeit from the cush high atop her horse, um, make that thoroughbred?

Or do we just hate her because she has the kind of access that most of us *wish* we had instead of surreptitiously living out our dreams on the pages of a magazine? Maybe because she’s a bit of an “untouchable?” But if she is, then don’t hate the playah, cuz it’s the rules of our game that put her there. So own up, fess up, get over it, and get on with it!

Life’s too short to dislike someone because of their GOOP.

Here’s Gwyneth’s recommendation for a Detox Program that I want to try by way of her specialist, Dr. Alejandro Junger. I mentioned yesterday that I was leaning towards the Master Cleanse made popular by Beyonce, but I like the fact that this one has FOOD in it. And you eat it, not drink it. And it all looks delicious. Plus you’re putting nutrients into your body while simultaneously eliminating your GOOP.

And with that, I think you should take a day, read and absorb the program, then GO!

Good luck, and good POOP!

Carmona sharp, Indians beat Reds 8-2

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Fausto Carmona had his second strong outing of spring training Wednesday night, allowing only a pair of hits over four innings of the Cleveland Indians’ 8-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

The right-hander was an All-Star in 2007 and got off to a good start the next season before a strained left hip knocked him out of sync. He fell to 5-12 last season with a 6.32 ERA.

In his last two spring starts, Carmona has made strides toward getting back to his All-Star form. He struck out three in three scoreless innings during his previous start, and was solid again Wednesday. Carmona allowed a first-inning run, then settled in and threw three scoreless innings.

“We’re happy about what we’ve seen so far of Carmona,” manager Manny Acta said. “He went to winter ball and made some adjustments. He moved to the left side of the rubber. That gives him a better opportunity to hit both sides of the plate. So far, he’s done that in spring training.”

Mark Grudzielanek hit a two-run double as the Indians knocked right-hander Bronson Arroyo out of the game with a four-run fourth inning. Arroyo allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk.

Micah Owings pitched three hitless innings, keeping himself in the competition for a spot in Cincinnati’s rotation. Owings gave up two of Cincinnati’s six walks.

“It’s the best Micah has thrown this spring,” manager Dusty Baker said. “We had too many walks. We have to cut down on those walks.”

Is Argentina’s message: “Jokes on you, April Fools”?

I can only imagine the fact that it took place in Bolivia gave Bolivia a HUGE advantage but 6-1 really? WTF?I didn’t believe my father when he called me to tell me I thought he was jokingPoor Ecuador I really thought they had the game won and then that late goal… shame.@Wolf- that’s why I said they had the home advantage :P Marco: If you read my question I’m sorta stating that I can’t imagining the altitude giving them that much of an advantage.@Marco- It’s ok :D I’ve heard that too and even Maradona avoided using that as an excuse

The Secret of Three Depths of Striking in the Martial Arts!

Old guy smacks a young guy, knocks him on his fanny! Good for a big headline, eh? So what martial fact did the old guy know that would enable him to take out a young guy in such easy fashion?

The old guy, having studied the martial arts for a while, knew how to deliver a bit of intention into his punch. And, if you knew the secrets he knew…then you would have that same type of power. The secret to what the old guy knew I have detailed in this article, so read it carefully.

There are three depths to be considered when you strike somebody. If you know what these depths are, then you will know how to deliver a real punch. And, if you don’t know these depths, then your opponent is going to chuckle when you hit him.

The first depth to be considered is skin deep. This is when you strike somebody hard enough to hurt his delicate, little shirt. This is the way children are taught to hit each other when they freestyle in that karate school so that little Johnnys mother doesn’t get all flustered and upset when little Johnny comes home with a teensie weensie bruise!

The second depth to be considered is muscle depth. This is when you hit somebody hard enough to leave a bright and purple bruise. This is the way most people learn to hit, and then they can be proud of their bruises, and not really get hurt. Most people, you see, don’t want to hit hard enough to reach to the third depth, they don’t really want to hurt their fellow man.

The third depth to be considered is bone depth. This is when you strike somebody with enough force to break a bone. Hit somebody, with the knuckles, on the bone of the shoulder, hard, and watch what happens.

Now, can you hit an opponent anywhere on the body and cause that kind of pain and injury? Can you make them revulse because you are penetrating with an actual desire to hurt their very bones? Can you get over the game of bruises and throw a fist like you mean it?

This is what is behind the one shot one kill philosophy of classic martial arts like shotokan or uechi ryu. This is the secret of internal power behind shaolin kung fu like Choy Lee Fut or Hung Gar, or Wudan style arts like Pa Kua Chang or Tai Chi Chuan or Hsing i. This is the punch that takes a person out of silly games, as in the MMA or UFC type events, and makes a real fighter out of the artist.

When prints clash

By Jemi EKUNKUNBOR
Long before the west thought of the idea of clashing prints for their 2010 Spring Summer collection, Nigerian designers have been on top of their game, doing very creative things with the colourful inexpensive ankara.

One of them is the idea of using two different prints to make one outfit. the trend became so attractive that even some textile companies rolled out fabrics already done clashing.

The way to do this trend is to choose contrasting prints like ankara but ensure that the two designs compliment each other. Clashing is a tricky one to pull off so do be careful. beside having two fabrics clash, you can also create this trend by making your outfit clash with your bag or scarf. Want to try? Just be very sure
